Michelle Short

Birth and Postpartum Doula

Michelle is a birth and postpartum doula serving birthing people throughout the Fraser Valley. She lives in beautiful Fort Langley with her husband, two children and two fur babies. Born the oldest female in her family, she happily took on a caregiving role from the get-go.

Starting in her teens with her very first job as a summer swim coach with her local swim club, Michelle has always found her bliss while working within family centered professions. However, it wasn't until she fulfilled her dream of motherhood with two unique and empowering home births, that she realized that birth work was calling to her.

Michelle's passion and focus is on providing birthing people with the tools to mold their own positive birth narratives through preparation and education. She has insight and is specialized in home birth, water birth, hypnobirthing, TENS machine use, aromatherapy, breastfeeding support, newborn massage, babywearing and cloth diapering.

In her spare time, you can find Michelle enjoying walks with her old pup, cooking, gardening, adventuring in nature with her kids, folding the never ending pile of laundry on her bed, or snuggling up on the couch with her husband and a nice glass of red wine.

Stephanie Penner

Birth Doula

Stephanie is a DONA certified and trained birth doula and recently had the honour of doing a year-long mentorship with the highly respected, long time member of the doula community, Allison Runnals (Doula on the Move). Throughout the 8 long years it took Stephanie to complete her B.A. in Psychology from UBC, she moved across the country, worked a few different jobs, gave birth to her son and through that experience, realized that her passion was in birth work and supporting families. She is dedicated to empowering families in their birth journey, providing them with the support and information necessary to ensure they have a safe and satisfying birth experience as they define it. When she’s not busy talking everything birth, baby and breastmilk, she can be found reading a book or spending time with her humans and fur baby.
